Game Elements
I found these articles very interesting, especially for the beginners who just start their journey in the "game world". To understand how the game elements are working and providing quality of games we need to remember the following:
Games have:
- rules
- conflict
- goals/objectives
- decision-making
- uncertain outcome
To create the design of effective games, we should consider a game mechanism:
- Conflict
to make a game more interactive ,the game player wants to see a conflict and a challenge to overcome it. The challenges could be different. let's say
- problem solving/puzzles
- physical obstacle
- combat with another player
2.Strategy and Chance
In the game the player should have a good strategy - decision making.
3.Aesthetics
Aesthetics - its a visual power for the video games that are pulling a lot of people to play the game.
4.Theme and Story
- Characters
- plot
- tension
- resolution
5.Rewards
To give reward the player will get more motivation and will play better.
Prototyping of the game
I read about different types of prototyping, and now I quiet sure how I am going to start - design the game.
